Rates

HOURLY RATES

STANDARD

$120/hr

This rate is applied to all email requests and responses as long as the word "urgent" is not in the subject line.

Most small changes are completed within a day or two, but a turnaround time is not guaranteed for work at the standard rate.

SCHEDULED

$180/hr

This rate applies to phone calls and any other scheduled work that is done in real-time.

This work must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance.

URGENT

$240/hr

This rate is applied to any emails with the word "urgent" in the subject line, and for any other forms of communication (phone call, SMS, instant message, etc).

Urgent work is usually completed within minutes or hours. If, for any reason, the work is not completed within 24 hours, you will not be billed at the urgent rate, but I will prioritize it anyway.

DAY AND HALF DAY RATES

FULL DAY

$1200

A day is an 8 hour block of real-time work, with a lunch break around the middle.

ADDITIONAL FULL DAY

$1000

A day is an 8 hour block of real-time work, with a lunch break around the middle.

This rate is only for additional time on Design in a Day projects.

HALF DAY

$700

A half day is a 4 hour block of real-time work.

ADDITIONAL HALF DAY

$600

A half day is a 4 hour block of real-time work.

This rate is only for additional time on Design in a Day projects.

If you're not sure about how much time you'll need, you can book one of the following:

  • Up to 2 hours of scheduled work.
  • Between 2 hours of scheduled work and a half day.
  • Between a half day and a full day.

I'll block off my schedule for the longer period of time, but you'll just pay for the time you use, with the minimum of the shorter period of time.

For example, if you book a half day to a full day, I'll block off the time for the full day, and you'll be expected to pay for at least a half day.

  • If you use the half day, you'll pay the half day rate.
  • If you use the half day plus 1.5 hours, you'll pay the half day rate plus 1.5 hours at the scheduled rate.
  • If you use the full day, you'll pay the full day rate.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

In what increments do you track and bill time?

All hourly work is recorded in 15 minute increments. You don't have to pay for a full hour for a small task.

What is considered billable work?

Billing, scheduling, and account-related communications are not counted as billable work. However, other communications and time spent, such as requests for changes to your site, questions on how to make changes to your site, asking for advice or recommendations, and discussions and estimates for future projects, are counted as billable work.

Are there any other exceptions?

For each client, the initial consultation and estimate will not be counted as billable work. Also, for existing clients, the consultation call for a Design in a Day package will not be counted as billable work, as long as the Design in a Day package is purchased within 30 days. Otherwise, you will be billed for the consultation call at the scheduled rate.

When do you send invoices?

After you have paid for the initial project or initial deposit, you will be invoiced at the beginning of each month for any work that was done in the previous month. If a large amount of work is requested, payment may be requested earlier.

What is your minimum for new clients?

There is a $1200 minimum deposit for any hourly work, unless you purchase the Design in Day package or sign up for a maintenance plan.

How is the real-time work done?

I prefer to use Zoom, which is free to download at https://zoom.us. I can also use Skype, Google Hangouts, or other services, but I've found Zoom to be the most reliable.
