FAQs

In what increments do you track and bill time?

Hourly work is recorded in 15 minute increments.

What is considered billable work?

The following will not be considered billable work:

  • Billing, scheduling, and account-related communications.
  • Small talk on phone calls, video calls, emails.
  • For new clients, the initial consultation and estimate.

Other communications and time spent, such as requests for changes to your site, questions on how to make changes to your site, asking for advice or recommendations, and discussions and estimates for future projects, are counted as billable work.

When do you send invoices?

After you have paid for the initial project or initial deposit, you will be invoiced at the beginning of each month for any work that was done in the previous month. If a large amount of work is requested, payment may be requested earlier.

Or, if you prefer to pre-pay, you may do so instead. I offer a discount if you pre-purchase a block of 20 or more hours (see below).

What is your minimum for new clients?

There is a $1,500 minimum deposit for any hourly work.

Do you offer any discounts?

If you pre-purchase a block of 20 or more hours, I will give a discount of 10%. 20 hours with a 10% discount would cost $2,700 ($150/hr x 20 hours – $300).

For Hawaii residents/businesses, it will be a 6% discount and I will include the Hawaii GET (General Excise Tax).

Pre-purchased hours at this rate will expire after 5 years. If you need a refund, it will be pro-rated from any hours used, and less any transaction fees.

What forms of payment do you accept?

I accept payments by ACH bank transfer, wire, credit card, and PayPal (in my order of preference, due to transaction fees).

Checks are only accepted for payments of $2,000 or more. If you plan to pay by check, please contact me for details first.

How is the real-time work done?

I prefer to use Zoom, which is free to download at https://zoom.us. I can also use Skype, Google Hangouts, or other services, but I’ve found Zoom to be the most reliable.

Testimonials

Doug came highly recommended from a friend and he exceeded all of my expectations. Working together in real time allowed the process to be really seamless. Doug not only incorporated my requested changes but he came back with several ideas I hadn’t even considered, all of which made my blog even better. Thank you Doug and EfficientWP!

Doug’s “design in a day” package was an efficient way to get a great site built, fast. I appreciated being able to communicate and collaborate with Doug in real-time to get changes done on the fly.

I was lucky to meet Doug at a networking event in March 2010, and since that time he has helped to transform my business. In addition to the design, he optimized my company site for the search engines and the results have been tremendous! I have only met a few people that have been as knowledgeable as Doug in their fields. Last but not least, he makes sure that my website is always updated for security purposes which past web designers didn’t even mention to me.
