Rates

STANDARD HOURLY RATE

$120/hr

This rate is applied to all email requests and responses as long as the word "urgent" is not in the subject line.

Most small changes are completed within a day or two, but a turnaround time is not guaranteed for work at the standard rate.

This also applies to phone calls and any other scheduled work that is done in real-time (i.e. over Zoom). For scheduled time, there is a 30-minute minimum charge ($60).

URGENT HOURLY RATE

$240/hr

This rate is applied to any emails with the word "urgent" in the subject line, and for any other forms of communication (phone call, SMS, instant message, etc).

Urgent work is usually completed within minutes or hours. If, for any reason, the work is not completed within 24 hours, you will not be billed at the urgent rate, but I will prioritize it anyway.

DAILY

$1000/day

This option is most useful if your project involves a lot of design or training. I'm more efficient when I can focus on one project at a time. If we are working in real time, we can eliminate lots of back and forth emails. It's less time overall and a faster turnaround.

Typically, this will be 9AM-5PM PST, with a short lunch break, but I can move it up or down an hour if needed.

If you don't use the entire day, I'll simply pro-rate it. But please only choose this option if you expect to use at least half a day.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

In what increments do you track and bill time?

All hourly work is recorded in 15 minute increments, except for scheduled work/calls, which have a 30-minute minimum.

What is considered billable work?

The following will not be considered billable work:

  • Billing, scheduling, and account-related communications.
  • "Small talk" on phone calls, video calls, emails.
  • For new clients, the initial consultation and estimate.
  • For existing clients, consultation calls for Design in a Day packages.

Other communications and time spent, such as requests for changes to your site, questions on how to make changes to your site, asking for advice or recommendations, and discussions and estimates for future projects, are counted as billable work.

When do you send invoices?

After you have paid for the initial project or initial deposit, you will be invoiced at the beginning of each month for any work that was done in the previous month. If a large amount of work is requested, payment may be requested earlier.

What is your minimum for new clients?

There is a $1200 minimum deposit for any hourly work, unless you've already purchased the Design in a Day package.

How is the real-time work done?

I prefer to use Zoom, which is free to download at https://zoom.us. I can also use Skype, Google Hangouts, or other services, but I've found Zoom to be the most reliable.
